After nearly 4 years of construction, Elan Pike’s Peak in Colorado Springs, CO has wrapped up. This multi-family building boasts an amenity rich lifestyle that is in growing demand for the booming urban center. In true Sika USA style, this commercial construction project features multiple technologies that protect and enhance the building with waterproofing, overburden, traffic coating, and expansion joint products.
Elegant porcelain pedestal pavers surround the pool deck in an open joint assembly, set above DuPont Performance Building Solutions Styrofoam insulation with Hydrotech® Monolithic Membrane 6125® waterproofing membrane keeping the structure watertight. Wood tile pavers can also be found complimenting the podium courtyard; there are no bad views with the Rocky Mountains in the distance.
The balconies are protected with a Sikalastic® traffic coating providing performance and aesthetics all in a one-step system. Toughness to abrasion and foot traffic, this slip resistant and UV stable coating is a great long term balcony solution.
With expansion joints located at the interior, exterior, courtyard, and roof the obvious choice was to incorporate Sika EMSEAL to address this critical element in the overall building enclosure performance. Their purpose-designed products are essential in ensuring a durable treatment of expansion joints while ensuring continuity of seal between systems and adjacent materials.
Elan Pike's Peak is an excellent example of a multi-year project where Sika technologies can be found throughout the building envelope to protect, enhance, and beautify the structure for years to come.
