CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (December 18, 2013) American Hydrotech, Inc., a recognized leader in the development and distribution of premium waterproofing and roofing products, today released the third edition of the company’s Garden Roof® Planning Guide. This new, complimentary resource empowers both new and veteran architects, landscape architects, building owners, contractors and installers to learn more about vegetated roofs and the various assemblies that arecurrently available and being used on today’s structures around the world.

Chiddick as Western District Sales Manager. Chiddick will be based in Los Angeles, CA, and responsible for new and existing American Hydrotech customers throughout the states of Washington, California and Oregon.

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (July 24, 2013) American Hydrotech, Inc., a recognized leader in the development and distribution of premium waterproofing and roofing products, today announced the addition of two new Garden Roof Technical Sales Coordinators to the company’s Garden Roof Department – Robert Erklin for the Eastern Region and Rick Kile for the Western Region.

Floating homes on Lake Union are all the craze. These homes, situated on rafts semi-permanently moored to a dock, are unique and provide luxury. When contracted to add a green roof to a new floating home, WALP member firm Pacific Earth Works was awarded the bid to work on the project that proved to be a challenging task. But the rewards were spectacular for the Monroe-based company.
Along the way, they earned a well-deserved Grand Award in the Residential Construction Category in WALP’s 2013 Environmental Landscape Awards Program.

Garden roofs, also known as green (or eco) roofs, are an exciting trend in the A/E industry, showing up on projects around the country, including the Seattle Civic Center, Latter-day Saints Conference Center (Salt Lake City), and The Gap Headquarters (San Bruno, Calif.).
Though some may view it as an emerging trend, green roofs have a long and established history. Our Babylonian ancestors installed elaborate vegetated roofs in the terraced structures of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, built around 500 B.C., which is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Early 20th century installations include New York City’s Rockefeller Center (1930s), Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum (1950s) and Madison Square Garden (1920s).
