Winthrop Center, located in Boston’s Financial District, includes over 1.8M sq. ft of residential, office, and retail space. At 53 stories tall, it became the largest Passive House Certified project in the world, as well as achieving LEED Platinum and WELL Gold certification. The project features the Garden Roof® Assembly to help maximize sustainability efforts with plant species that increase biodiversity, reduce urban heat effects, contribute to stormwater management, and add value to the building. Combining hardscape and softscape features creates a relaxing, sleek outdoor space for everyone to enjoy. Winthrop Center’s practices of environmental sustainability have led the project to be a new benchmark for large-scale sustainable design and a blueprint for future urban projects.
