Urby at the Navy Yard is a 478-unit luxury apartment development spanning an entire city block in Washington, DC. Sustainability was a key driver, with Prospect Waterproofing Company contributing to the project’s LEED Gold certification through the installation of the Hydrotech’s Garden Roof Assembly that reduces stormwater runoff, supports biodiversity, and eases strain on the city’s infrastructure.

Prospect’s scope included 50,000 SF of Protected Membrane Roofing with overburden that includes solar panels, green roof assemblies, and concrete pavers, along with 20,000 SF of waterproofing at the plaza and loading dock levels.

Working within a constrained urban site near Nationals Park, the team navigated limited staging areas, restricted crane access, and logistical challenges tied to game-day operations. Despite these constraints, Prospect successfully executed complex waterproofing across multiple elevations and seasons, maintaining tight coordination with other trades on an active construction site.

Using Hydrotech® Monolithic Membrane 6125®, Prospect ensured watertight integrity throughout construction while completing numerous intricate detailing conditions, including reinforced planter walls and multi-phase courtyard applications.
