Now that the Alice L. Walton School of Medicine is finally open to the public and we have new photographs, we wanted to share it with you! AWSOM is a visual marvel with its geometric architecture that pulls on elements of the surrounding environment. When entering the building, it almost feels like you are walking into a cave that opens up to expansive water features, paths, trees, and more!
Found onsite and across the rooftop park, more than 550 trees and 140,000 native plants surround outdoor classrooms, trails, healing gardens, meditation terraces, and a 215-foot water feature. The two-acre rooftop park, the largest in the region, connects directly to the Crystal Bridges trail system, making the campus an open extension of the Ozark landscape.
Sika - Hydrotech is proud to have Hydrotech® Monolithic Membrane 6125® protecting 80,000 square feet of this building, which provides the foundation of the Garden Roof® Assembly that brings beauty, biodiversity, and life back onto the rooftop.
An interesting fact is that more than 40 truckloads of geofoam were needed to create the landscaped topography of the vegetated roof, which reduced the overall weight of the green roof system.
